DOWNHILL SKIING:
Skiing is the most popular activity in the winter. The Tahoe area enjoys an incredible abundance of snow with the season lasting late into spring. Numerous ski resorts are located within 15 minutes drive from the house and offer wonderful ski activities for both parents and children.

Though Squaw is world renown we also recommend North Star with its great selection of terrain for every level of skier and great family friendly atmosphere. Though Homewood is not as large and has the lowest elevation, it is where the locals go to avoid the traffic and crowds on the big holidays.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING:
There are many trails around Tahoe for cross country skiing and Snow Shoeing. We like to go to paige Meadow which is a great place for enjoying the country side with your dogs.

ICE SKATING:
Take the tram in Squaw Valley and after enjoying the most spectacular views of the lake and the High Sierras, put on your skates at the top an enjoy one of the most unique skating experiences in the world. The tram ride alone is a worthwhile experience for your entire group, even the non-skaters. We recommend arriving at Squaw after 4pm for the après ski scene when the ski crowd is beginning to thin out.
